2 arrested for theft crimes after alleged home burglary

Two individuals were recently arrested in Jefferson City. The Missouri authorities suspect that the two men broke into and burglarized a residence in the early morning hours. One suspect was apprehended near the scene, but another was arrested some time later. They each face theft and other related charges for the alleged burglary.

Around 2:30 a.m., the local authorities were called to a residence by way of a burglar alarm. As they approached the home, the officers pulled over a pickup truck that appeared to be leaving the scene. The officer noticed items in the back of the truck, and the officer suspected that they were stolen from the residence. The officer arrested the 37-year-old for burglary, stealing and driving with a revoked license.

The investigators claim that the residence showed signs that a forcible entry was made, but the specific details explaining how the two suspects purportedly entered the house are not clear. After alleged witnesses claimed to have seen another suspect flee the scene, the officers began to look for him. The 38-year-old was arrested some time later and charged with burglary, stealing and resisting arrest. He was also accused of assault on an officer.

Despite the theft accusations that each man faces, they still retain the presumption of innocence until, and only if, they are proved guilty in court. No matter the evidence that Missouri prosecutors claim to have against them, there can be no conviction without the presentation of competent and relevant evidence that meets the exacting requirements of our criminal justice system. Additionally, help exists in our state for accused individuals who would like assistance in preparing their criminal defenses.
