Assault charge filed follow incident with sword in Missouri

People in Missouri and across the country often become embroiled in conflict. In most instances, this simply means that they become involved in a heated exchange of words. However, police in Missouri have arrested and charged a young man with assault following an alleged incident involving a samurai sword.

The incident happened one day in March. According to reports, both the alleged victim and defendant were engaged in a disagreement. The victim claims that the 23-year-old male now facing criminal charges first shot him with a pellet gun. He then claims that the man left the scene and returned with a samurai sword. Disbelieving that the sword was real, the victim claims he did not attempt to defend himself from an attack.

Police say that when they arrived at the scene, they discovered the alleged victim suffering from a cut on his forearm. According to reports, the defendant returned the sword to his apartment before leaving the area, but he was later taken into custody. Both men reportedly agree that they were arguing over a woman.

Unfortunately, there is often more to a story than is reported by police or the media. At this point, it is unclear whether the man now accused of assault may have feared for his life if the reports of the interaction are factual. To help them respond to charges against them, many people in Missouri seek the guidance of an experienced criminal defense attorney. Such help can ensure that that those facing accusations of crimes are fully equipped to make informed decisions regarding their cases.
