When people observe other drivers on the road engage in behaviors that are illegal or potentially dangerous, they are often unsure how to respond. Unfortunately, in some cases such an observation can result in a confrontation. In fact, police in Missouri claim that a road rage incident resulted in an assault charge against one of the people said to be involved.
Police say that part of the mid-December incident was caught on camera at a gas station. According to reports, a 50-year-old man followed the alleged victim into a parking lot. He is accused of kicking her vehicle twice before tackling her.
Although bystanders came to the scene, the man reportedly drove away before they interacted with him. He has since been charged with assault and property damage and reportedly has plans to turn himself in. He claims that the incident began after he observed the woman throwing something from her vehicle. The only injuries reported in the incident were scraped hands and knees.
Many people in Missouri have little understanding of the criminal justice system. As a result, they may be unaware of the implications of certain information they may voluntarily provide law enforcement officials as part of an investigation. Fortunately, there are experienced attorneys who can help those accused of assault and other crimes throughout all parts of a case. With such help, those suspected of crimes often feel more prepared to respond to the allegations against them and to make the important decisions that will face them in the coming weeks.
