Missouri couple faces drug charges after welfare visit

In many areas, it is relatively easy for people to report any concerns about a child's welfare. While the intent behind this is likely to ensure that all children are adequately protected, the process could potentially be abused. Unfortunately, a request for a welfare check in Missouri has recently resulted in multiple drug charges -- among several others -- against a man and woman.

The incident that led to the man and woman's arrest reportedly happened one afternoon on a day in early March. Police claim that they were called to the home after a request was made to check the welfare of children. The details of that request are unclear. Unfortunately, the 32-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were arrested.

Police say that they discovered drugs, reportedly including packages intended for sale, in addition to drug paraphernalia and a handgun at the residence. They drugs were reportedly within the reach of four children who lived in the home. Both people are suspected of unlawful use of a weapon, delivery of controlled substance, trafficking drugs, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The man, who is reportedly a convicted felon, faces an additional charge of illegal possession of a firearm.

As a result of the drug charges, and others, that the Missouri pair is facing, they are now left with multiple decisions to make. Many people facing such allegations are often unsure of their options. Because a conviction of the charges could have a significant impact on the rest of their lives, most people in a similar situation want an experienced professional guiding them throughout the process.
