DWI suspected in Missouri car accident

A car accident can happen quickly, often before drivers have an opportunity to even attempt to respond to changing conditions. Even something as simple as adjusting the volume of the radio can cause a sufficient distraction to allow an accident. Unfortunately, law enforcement officers may be quick to assume that an accident is the result of a driver who was driving while intoxicated, or DWI.

In fact, a Missouri woman now faces such accusations following what appears to have been a relatively minor accident. According to the police department, the incident is said to have happened around 11:30 a.m. on a day in early January. Police say that the 32-year-old woman did not stop for stopped traffic, resulting in a collision with a vehicle driven by a 47-year-old man.

Police say that the woman suffered minor injuries in the accident and was transported to the hospital. The other driver was not injured. Though it is unclear what evidence supports the accusations, law enforcement officers arrested the woman, accusing her of being intoxicated. One lane of traffic was closed for approximately half an hour as a result of the incident.

Unfortunately, accusations of DWI can have significant personal, professional and financial ramifications on a person's life. Often, those facing such charges in Missouri are unsure of their legal options. Typically, they want an experienced professional to carefully examine all the details of the case against them and use that information to help them determine how to best respond to the accusations they are facing.
