DRUNK DRIVING ACCUSATIONS FOLLOW MISSOURI PEDESTRIAN CRASH
Jan. 3, 2019
Many streets in Missouri have hazards. For example, the chances of an accident on a street that is not well lit could be higher. Unfortunately, drivers — even those who are alert and vigilant — may not be able to respond in time to an unexpected hazard in order to avoid a collision. In fact, four people were recently sent to the hospital after they were allegedly struck by a vehicle; the driver has since been charged with drunk driving.
The incident happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. on a day in December. According to reports, a 42-year-old woman was walking with her 9-year-old son and her parents who were visiting from out of the country. Police say that a motor vehicle driven by a 48-year-old woman struck them from behind as they were walking on the street.
The youngest victim has since been released from the hospital. His mother is listed in serious condition while both of his grandparents are considered critical. The driver was charged with causing serious injury while driving under the influence. Neighbors in the area indicate that it is “really dark” where the accident happened, and the road, in general, is dangerous.
The injuries that the four victims suffered are tragic. All four are likely working on their recovery. In the meantime, the woman accused of drunk driving is now probably considering her legal options, following this incident that happened on the dark road. Fortunately, an attorney with experience with such cases in Missouri can help her make the decisions that will likely impact the rest of her life.
