Anyone who has shared a living space with a roommate has likely experienced some of the frustrations that come with it, even when they share a friendly relationship. Unfortunately, it can quickly become overwhelming. These frustrations combined with the disorientation that come be experienced by those people living in a nursing home could easily lead to misunderstandings. In fact, police in Missouri have charged an elderly man with murder in connection to the death of his roommate.

Police say that they were called to the nursing home one morning on a day in early January. According to reports, members of the nursing staff claim to have found a 69-year-old man who was in his bed and not breathing. The man was ultimately pronounced dead.

Reports claim that the man’s 73-year-old roommate admitted to punching him several times. However, it was not immediately clear what led to the alleged assault. The deceased man’s roommate has since been charged with second-degree murder, and he is being held on $250,000 bond.

Even though few details of the incident are available, a man now faces murder accusations, very serious criminal charges. To help him sort through the events that led to the man’s death, the defendant may want an experienced criminal defense attorney on his side. Such a professional can guide him throughout any interviews with law enforcement officials (or advise against them), examine the evidence in the case and determine the most appropriate defense to the charges against him. Often, such guidance can give those facing criminal charges in Missouri more confidence as they navigate the justice system.
