MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULT IN MISSOURI

It is often difficult to predict how people will react during a moment of conflict, especially if they feel that their life may be endangered. However, police often make assumptions regarding who the aggressor was when an event results in violence, even if an investigation has not been completed. Unfortunately, a man in Missouri has recently been accused of assault after police say he shot a Lyft driver.

The suspect in the case is a 28-year-old man. Reports indicate that someone requested a Lyft ride during the early morning hours of a day in late October. However, the 41-year-old driver and the suspect reportedly become involved in some sort of argument. The contents of that alleged argument are unclear.

Police believe that the suspect shot the driver multiple times. Witnesses claim that after the shooting, the shooter forced a female into a vehicle before leaving the scene. Based on information provided by witnesses, a man was taken into custody less than an hour after the shooting is said to have occurred. Police say that he had blood on his hands and jeans as well as a weapon that matched the one believed to have been used in the shooting. The suspect was charged with first-degree assault and is being held on $100,000 bond.

Unfortunately, most people who are accused of crimes, including assault, in Missouri are unaware of their legal rights as well as the possible significance of any evidence authorities may claim to have against them. Because a conviction can have serious consequences, those facing such charges often choose to hire a criminal defense attorney. Such a professional can help these defendants fully understand their legal options, allowing them to make informed decisions about their case.
