MISSOURI MAN DENIED BAIL IN ASSAULT CASE

On Behalf of | Jun 8, 2017 | Firm News

When people become involved with the criminal justice system, they are often left wondering about the process and their options. For example, a man in Missouri may be feeling a great deal of stress after his recent arrest in connection to an alleged assault. He is currently being held without bail.

The man’s arrest occurred after police were called to the scene of a residence. Reports indicate that the defendant, a 46-year-old male, broke into a home. He allegedly attacked a man who lives at the residence with a baseball bat.

According to police reports, the defendant struck the victim multiple times, causing serious injuries, including broken bones in his arm and lower back. The defendant was arrested after a judge issued a warrant. Declaring that the victim was endangered, the judge denied bail. The man is charged with felony assault. It is unclear what police believed motivated the alleged attack.

People in Missouri who face criminal charges must make critical decisions in a relatively short period of time that will likely have a major impact on the rest of their lives. Because many defendants have little legal training, they may feel unprepared to make these decisions. Fortunately, a criminal defense attorney can help this man now accused of assault fully understand his options and the potential ramifications of each. In some cases, a defendant may choose to fight charges in court, while in others, it may seem more prudent to accept a deal that exchanges a guilty plea with reduced charges and/or a shorter sentence.
