The families of two students from a Missouri university have been left shocked and grief-stricken in the aftermath of a horrific tragedy. One of the two students is now dead, and the other is being accused of possible assault and murder in the incident. That student, a female, denies that she had anything to do with her boyfriend’s death, stating that he committed suicide.

The 22-year-old woman was reportedly spotted by police as she wandered down the road in the wee hours of a recent morning, looking completely distraught. Officers say that when they approached the woman, who seemed to be in a state of hysteria, she told them that her boyfriend had taken his own life and that she was trying to locate a telephone to call authorities for help. Police have since stated that they did not believe the woman’s story.

The officers reportedly escorted the woman back to her residence at which time they say they discovered a gruesome scene. The body of a 22-year-old man was found in a bedroom. Officers said that an assault rifle lying near the body appeared to have been moved because it was found some distance away from a bullet casing in another room.

Also according to the officers, the surrounding scene seemed to suggest that a great struggle had taken place, possibly leading to an assault that resulted in the man’s death. The woman has been accused of staging her boyfriend’s death as a suicide and will now face murder charges in court. A person facing such charges in Missouri is entitled to legal representation and typically benefits from retaining the assistance of an experienced attorney to prepare and present a vigorous defense.
