Conflict is a relatively common part of life. While most conflict occurs as part of a verbal exchange, there does come a time when it may be necessary for a person to defend him or herself from violence at the hands of another. Unfortunately, there are few details available following a recent incident, termed an assault by Missouri law enforcement officers, that left a man in the hospital.

The incident happened at an apartment complex during the early morning hours of a day in June. According to reports, the alleged victim was driving someone home from a bar. Reports indicate that the man encountered another vehicle. An altercation between the so-called victim and another man then occurred.

Police say that one of the men was left in the roadway. He was transported to the hospital where he remained on life support days after the incident. The manager of the apartment complex says that surveillance footage of the incident has been turned over to authorities. Even though law enforcement officials claim to know who the other man involved in the incident is, no charges have been filed. Detectives reportedly have a significant amount of evidence to sort through as they work to determine “exactly what happened.” Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police.

When a person in Missouri is the subject of an assault investigation, he or she may feel unsure about his or her rights and may not fully realize the implications of any information provided to law enforcement officers. As such, it may be necessary to have an experienced criminal defense attorney to help navigate an inquiry. Such a professional can help from the earliest stages of a case, even if no criminal charges have been filed.
