MISSOURI WOMAN CHARGED FOR POSSESSION OF DRUGS

On Behalf of | Jun 9, 2015 | Firm News

The criminal justice system may seem like a labyrinth of complicated terms and proceedings that individuals may have difficulty navigating. If a person has been charged due to alleged possession of drugs, he or she may be concerned about understanding what will take place as the legal proceedings move forward. Because confusion can at times lead to considerable stress, accused parties may want to find ways to make their situation seem less daunting.

One woman in Missouri may be hoping to more clearly understand her situation after being taken into custody. It was reported that authorities had been alerted to a possible assault in which a woman had been thrown from a moving vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, officers allegedly found a woman. However, officers reportedly believed that the woman was intoxicated and had made up the story about the assault after falling into the ditch herself.

While helping the woman gather her belongings, an officer allegedly noticed drugs in the woman’s bag. The drugs were apparently prescription pills, and the woman reportedly did not have prescriptions for the drugs. As a result, she was taken into custody on drug possession charges.

If the woman does not have an extensive working knowledge of the legal system, her circumstances may cause her some confusion. As a result, she may wish to rid herself of that confusion by gathering information relating to her situation and the charges leveled against her for possession of drugs. By having a better understanding of what she will likely go through during the criminal process in Missouri, she may feel more confident in her decisions and in planning her defense alongside her legal counsel.
