MISSOURI WOMAN’S CAREGIVER CHARGED WITH HER MURDER

On Behalf of | Jan 1, 2018 | Firm News

Often as people in Missouri age, they become more and more dependent upon others to ensure that their daily basic needs are met. Anyone who has cared for someone who is completely dependent upon him or her is likely aware of the stress that these caregivers can experience. However, relatively few caregivers resort to violence. Despite this, police have accused a man of murder following the death of a woman he cared for.

Reports indicate that the man typically took care of the woman in the evening on Monday through Friday. However, they say that he called an Uber car and left work early on the night she was murdered. Police say that he stabbed the woman and beat her, resulting in her death.

According to reports, the man asked his driver to stop near his home at some vacant houses. He reportedly left bags there containing latex gloves, bloody pillowcases and a t-shirt. Police say that items in the bag matched items in the woman’s home. He is also accused of taking checks from the home worth over $2,000. He has since been charged with armed criminal action and second-degree murder.

In all criminal cases, including those involving accusations of murder, a person is considered innocent unless he or she is proved otherwise. In order to obtain a conviction, prosecutors must be able to provide sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. To help respond to the charges against him and shift through any evidence in the case, the Missouri man may choose to seek guidance from an attorney with experience with such cases.
