Search at Local Missouri Business Leads to Drug Charges
In many cases, the reason why a person faces criminal charges may seem fairly obvious. In others, however, it may not seem as clear. For example, a man in Missouri now faces drug charges after law enforcement officials served a search warrant on a business.
The business, Southern Missouri Judicial Services, is described as having a focus on security and private investigation. The services it provides involves surveillance, GPS ankle bracelets and fire fraud investigations, among others. However, law enforcement officials recently served a search warrant on the business. Though the reason the warrant was requested is unclear, officials claim that they discovered narcotics paraphernalia and controlled substances in the search. Electronic storage devices were also seized.
A 46-year-old man now faces a charge of possession of controlled substances. The man is mystified about what prompted the search and believes that the company may have been targeted. He further claims that the company has a state license that allows it to have narcotics on the premises for the purpose of training K-9 units.
Based on the defendant’s version of events, it seems possible that his arrest and the drug charges that followed may have been the result of a misunderstanding. To help him sort through the accusations against him, the Missouri man may want an experienced criminal defense attorney on his side. Such a professional can help ensure that is he able to make informed decisions about his case in addition to ensuring that he is treated lawfully throughout the legal process.
