COMMERCIAL TRUCK DRIVER IN MISSOURI CHARGED WITH DRUNK DRIVING

On Behalf of | Aug 10, 2017 | Firm News

The average person in Missouri likely has little experience with the criminal justice system. As a result, when a person is charged with a crime, he or she may be unaware of the process, his or her rights and how to respond to allegations. One young man in Missouri is likely experiencing a great deal of uncertainty after he was accused of drunk driving.

The incident that led to his arrest reportedly happened on a day in early August. Reports indicate that the 23-year-old was driving an asphalt truck for Seal-O-Matic Paving Company. While he was driving, the truck allegedly struck a concrete barricade, damaging it.

A sobriety test was performed at the scene. Prosecutors claim that he was over the .04 percent limit allowed for operators of commercial vehicle. A representative for the man’s employer claims that he is shocked by the allegations, but the company is conducting an investigation. News reports indicate that the young man does not appear to have a criminal history, and the company representative describes him as a “standout employee.”

In order to ensure that they are treated lawfully, those suspected or accused of crimes in Missouri often seek help from an attorney with experience with such cases. Such a professional can help a defendant accused of drunk driving in Missouri fully understand his or her rights as well as helping negotiate for reduced charges and/or creating a plan to fight the charges in court. Because many people lack familiarity with the criminal justice system, help from a professional can give them confidence in the decisions they must make.
