MISSOURI TEEN ACCUSED OF DRUNK DRIVING FOLLOWING FATAL CRASH

A car accident can happen so quickly that a driver often has little opportunity to react. When a person is involved in an accident that causes serious harm, that event will likely live with them for the rest of his or her life. Unfortunately, a teenager in Missouri is now accused of drunk driving following a crash that reportedly killed two people.

The crash happened in January. Witnesses claim that the vehicle was traveling well over posted speed limits. Police claim that their investigation revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Two passengers, both 18 years old, died at the scene. Paramedics removed the driver from the vehicle. Witnesses say that the car was following another — reportedly the driver’s girlfriend who claims she did not know who was following her and was trying to get away. The young man now faces criminal charges as a result of the accident. It is unclear what specific evidence supports the charges against him.

The charges against the young man are serious. In the coming weeks, he will likely have to make many decisions that could have a significant impact on the rest of his life. Most people in Missouri accused of drunk driving and/or other criminal charges are often unprepared to make these decisions. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help ensure that defendants have the information they need as they navigate the criminal justice system. An attorney can focus on protecting the legal rights of the accused while fighting for an outcome favorable to the client.
