In the aftermath of a motor vehicle crash, a victim’s perception of reality may be skewed. In fact, even those who are eyewitnesses may not be able to fully comprehend the events happening around them. However, a man in Missouri is now facing a DWI charge even though he informed police he was not the one driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The incident happened in mid-September. Many of the details regarding the crash are unclear, but a husband and wife were transported to the hospital afterward. The 33-year-old man has recently been arrested in connection with the accident.

According to reports, the man claimed that his wife was the person driving the vehicle at the time of the accident after he underwent a field sobriety test. He reportedly took Suboxone, an anti-opioid, prior to leaving his house. However, a witness is said to have told police officers that a man was in the driver’s seat when the accident happened. The man now faces criminal charges, including driving while intoxicated.

Unfortunately, people in Missouri accused of DWI and other criminal charges are often unsure how to best proceed. Faced with several options, it is often difficult for them to make informed decisions. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help defendants as they navigate through the criminal justice system. With such a person by their side, those charged with a crime can be confident in the decisions that they must make, assured that someone is willing to fight on their behalf.
