MISSOURI MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT, KIDNAPPING

Relationships between couples can often become volatile. While violence is relatively rare, police believe that a man in Missouri recently turned to it, potentially as a result of drug use. The man now faces several charges, including assault.

The victim reportedly met the 38-year-old defendant online two years before the incident, and they had been in a relationship off and on ever since. However, the 62-year-old man claims the other man began acting erratically after injecting meth. He claims that he was punched several times, hit with furniture and jabbed with needles. The defendant, according to his partner, blocked the exits, preventing the alleged victim from leaving.

The older man claims he was able to lock himself in a bathroom. A neighbor who reportedly saw him hanging out of a window called police for help. When they arrived, he tossed them keys, and the younger man was taken into custody following a struggle. Police say the man kicked them, and they were stabbed with exposed needles. In addition to a domestic assault charge, he is also charged with resisting arrest and kidnapping.

Unfortunately, those facing criminal charges are often unsure of the choices they have as they navigate through the justice system. Additionally, they may not recognize unlawful treatment. Even if they suspect it, they may be unaware of how to properly respond. As a result, defendants in criminal cases in Missouri charged with assault and other violent crimes often seek guidance from an experienced criminal defense attorney. With such help, they can have more confidence in the decisions that they make — decisions that could potentially have a significant impact on the rest of their lives.
