MANY QUESTIONS UNANSWERED IN MISSOURI MURDER INVESTIGATION

On Behalf of | Mar 29, 2018 | Firm News

When a person loses a loved one unexpectedly, there is an understandable desire for answers. However, police in Missouri have provided few answers in the recent death of an elderly woman other than to claim that she was the victim of a crime. Despite this, a man has been arrested and accused of murder.

The 77-year-old woman died on a day in late March. According to reports, a woman called police and told them that someone had murdered her mother. When police arrived at the scene, they claim they discovered the body of the woman.

A search of the neighborhood occurred, and police say that they discovered a person of interest. That person, a 57-year-old man, was arrested and charged with robbery, burglary and murder. An autopsy has been conducted, but the results are not expected to be completed for several weeks. An official cause of death has not been determined.

Many issues regarding the death of the woman are unclear, including what led her daughter to believe she was murdered and what police discovered that caused them to arrest a man and accuse him of murder, among other charges. In all criminal cases, there must be sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. If this evidence is not provided, those facing criminal charges in Missouri and across the country cannot be convicted. An experienced criminal defense attorney can help those facing charges examine the evidence against them and work aggressively on their side as they respond to the accusations against them.
