MISSOURI POLICE SEARCH FOR WOMAN ACCUSED OF THEFT FROM DOG RESCUE

There are multiple different organizations in Missouri and across the country dedicated to helping. Each organization has different goals, with some focused on helping animals. Unfortunately, a dog rescue now claims that it was the victim of theft.

The organization claims that a former treasurer stole approximately $120,000 from the group during between Nov. 2016 and Sept. 2017. A representative for Mac’s Mission, the organization allegedly involved, claims that once the theft was discovered in Oct. 2017, representatives immediately notified authorities and have cooperated with the investigation ever since. It is unclear how the alleged crime was discovered.

According to court papers, a 40-year-old woman made 89 withdrawals that were unauthorized. Though reports do not elaborate what the money was used for, co-workers claim that the woman made several trips to casinos during that time period. She has since been charged with two counts of stealing, a felony. Police have posted a picture of the woman on social media as part of their search for her.

There are many issues surrounding the case that lack clarity. For example, it is unclear how police determined that the woman stole the money for personal use rather than simply failing to follow established authorization processes. Part of her response to the theft accusations she faces will likely include examining all of the evidence against her. Because she may not have the legal training to fully understand all elements of the case and her options, she may choose to retain an experienced criminal defense professional in Missouri to help her.
