DRUNK DRIVING CHARGES FOLLOWING INJURY OF MISSOURI PEDESTRIAN

Car accidents happen every day in Missouri and other states. While certain measures are in place in an attempt to reduce the number of accidents and the impact of those that do occur, the risk cannot be completely eliminated. Though they can occur for a variety of different reasons, it may be easy for police to assume that drunk driving was involved.

In fact, a driver in Missouri is now accused of driving under the influence of alcohol following a recent accident involving a pedestrian. Reports indicate that the alleged victim, whose identity was not released in the immediate aftermath of the accident, was standing in the median, waiting to cross the street. Unfortunately, the man was reportedly struck by a sports utility vehicle and pinned between it and a traffic light pole.

The man was still pinned when rescue workers arrived but reportedly conscious and talking. Once extricated, he was taken to the hospital for treatment. A witness at the scene claims that the man had a large gash on his forehead and that both of his legs were likely broken. The driver was arrested, suspected of driving while intoxicated.

Despite his arrest, it is unclear what evidence supports the allegations of drunk driving. Regardless, the Missouri man likely has several potentially life-changing decisions facing him over the coming days. Without legal experience, he may feel unprepared to make these decisions. As a result, he may hire an experienced criminal defense attorney to help guide him through the process, giving him confidence in the decisions that he makes.
