MISSOURI WOMAN HIT BY WRONG-WAY VEHICLE ACCUSED OF DRUNK DRIVING

There are many actions that a driver can take to avoid an accident. Unfortunately, there is often little a person can do when a wrong-way driver is headed in his or her direction. In fact, police reports indicate that a woman in Missouri is suspected of driving the wrong way and causing a collision. However, the woman driving the vehicle the alleged wrong-way driver struck now faces drunk driving charges.

The incident happened during the early morning hours of a day in early November. According to reports, a 51-year-old woman was leaving a strip club when she began driving the wrong way on a Missouri road. Police claim that she drove approximately two miles before she struck a sedan headed in the correct direction. A third vehicle ultimately became involved in the collision.

The older woman claims that she began blowing her horn when she noticed headlights coming toward her. Police say that the driver of the second vehicle, a 21-year-old woman, had an open bottle of tequila in her vehicle, and her blood alcohol content was over the legal limit. Though the older woman reportedly had several open alcoholic beverages in her vehicle, it is unclear if she was under the influence at the time. The driver of the third vehicle claims that neither women had their headlights on at the time of the accident. Only relatively minor injuries were reported.

Unfortunately, the young woman accused of drunk driving is now in a legal predicament. Because the criminal justice system can be complicated, she may be unsure what her options are. Fortunately, she has the right to seek legal counsel from a professional in Missouri who has the necessary education and experience to guide her throughout the process.
