A confrontation with a Missouri police officer can be nerve-wracking for many people. Often, the anxiety associated with such an encounter can even make someone who has committed no wrongdoing display symptoms that could be interpreted as guilt but are actually a product of nerves. Unfortunately, a man is now facing driving while intoxicated and drug charges after officers claimed he was involved in a car accident.

The incident that led to the man’s arrest happened on a day in late December. According to reports, a pickup truck driven by a 51-year-old man crashed into another vehicle while traveling in the eastbound lanes of a Missouri highway. Police claim that the driver did not remain at the scene.

However, officers were reportedly able to stop him a short distance from the crash. Police claim that the man had constricted pupils, bloodshot eyes and was sweating at the time. They obtained a warrant for a blood test after the driver declined, but the results of the test are pending. The man is said to have told officers that he was traveling from Colorado. Marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were allegedly discovered in his vehicle.

Drug charges against the man include trafficking and possession. Additionally, he is suspected of repeat DWI, and reports claim that his license was suspended due to unpaid child support. Unfortunately, the charges against the Missouri man are serious, and he may feel unprepared to address them without the help of a legal professional. With the help of an experienced criminal defense attorney, he may have more confidence in his ability to make informed decisions as he responds to the allegations against him.
