When driving a motor vehicle, a slight mistake can often have serious consequences. For example, pressing the gas pedal instead of the brake can result in a collision. Unfortunately, it may be easy to assume that an accident that happens at night is the result of DWI. In fact, a man in Missouri now faces criminal charges after he allegedly drove his van into a restaurant.

The incident happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. on a day in late March. According to reports, a 26-year-old man picked up a take-out order from Poor Richard’s, a sports club and restaurant. However, he allegedly backed his van through the front of the building while attempting to leave.

Police claim that the man did not remain at the scene. However, they stopped him a short time later. Reports indicate that three people inside the restaurant suffered significant injuries.

Though it is unclear what his blood alcohol content was or how it was determined, he faces charges of DWI in addition to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident. As a result, he now faces multiple decisions as a result of the alleged incident. Many people in Missouri who have found themselves in a similar situation have benefited from having an experienced defense attorney guide them through the criminal justice process, advising them on their options, including whether to accept a plea deal, if offered by prosecutors, or to fight the charges in court. With such a professional on their side, those accused of crimes often feel more confident in their ability to make the decisions that will impact the rest of their lives.
