MISSOURI MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULT, OTHER CHARGES

When allegations of a crime occur, there is an understandable need for information and, typically, a desire for justice. Regardless of the allegations, there must be sufficient evidence to prove guilt in court and beyond a reasonable doubt. This requires more evidence than someone simply stating that a crime occurred. Despite this, there are many unclear details about a case that resulted in assault charges and several other formal accusations filed against a Missouri man.

The incident that originally sparked police interest in the man is said to have occurred during the early morning hours of a day in mid-March. Police say they were called to a residence in which a person claimed the defendant fired a gun at someone else. Reports indicate that no one was injured in that incident.

The man was taken into custody over a month later. Police say they were called to a scene due to “suspicious activity” and later identified vehicles that were apparently at the scene and recorded on surveillance footage. After stopping one of the vehicles, police responded to a residence where the man from the alleged shooting was taken into custody.

In addition to charges of assault in the first degree, the man is also accused of kidnapping, harassment, domestic assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm, among others. Despite the numerous charges against the man, the details regarding the firing of the firearm in the original incident, including the identity of the alleged victim and a possible motive, as well as the man’s connection with the stopped vehicle that later led to his arrest are unclear. Because of the seriousness of the charges against him, the Missouri man may want an experienced criminal defense attorney on his side as he sorts through the evidence against him and decides how to best respond to the allegations.
